Donald Hall was an important author from New Hampshire. He wrote poetry, fiction, children’s stories, biographies, plays, and essays. He was also a Red Sox fan and wrote two books about baseball! You might have read one of his children’s books,
Ox-Cart Man. Hall lived for many years on Eagle Pond Farm in Wilmot, New Hampshire. The farm had been in his family since the 1860s. Hall often wrote about rural life in New Hampshire. He was the poet laureate, or the official poet, of New Hampshire from 1984 to 1989 and the poet laureate of the United States from 2006 to 2007.
